NRPVYC
NRPVYC

Who are you and who are the members of your team?
Jennie Cole-Mossman and Kelli Hauptman, Co-Directors; Jamie Bahm, Project Manager; Cassie Roberts, Project Coordinator; Madeline DeVeney, Training Associate; Katherine Hazen and Melanie Fessinger, GRAs; and student workers Becca Human, Kaleigh Nelsen, and Hayley Kaiser. Matt Carlson just joined the project the past week -- see below for more details about him.

How long has your project been around?
The NRPVYC began in March 2015 after the Nebraska Court Improvement Project (CIP) moved from CCFL into the Judicial Branch.

What are you currently working on?
We have 3 areas of work: reflective practice, court infusion work and early childhood mental health. There is more detail in our 2017 annual report we just released - https://www.nebraskababies.com/annual-reports.

Any new or exciting things to know about your project or team?(personal or work related)
Yes! Madeline DeVeney joined us in April as our Training Associate and has surpassed our wildest expectations on her skill with technology and making things beautiful and intuitive. Matt Carlson just joined our project on June 25th as a Research Assistant Professor and lead evaluator. He’ll work with Kate on our evaluation activities. Melanie is sadly leaving us for a wonderful fellowship opportunity but is also heading to John Jay College of Criminal Justice in NYC to complete her PhD program there, so we are very excited for her.

What are you hoping to accomplish during the next year?
We would like to continue solidifying our Nebraska Center on Reflective Practice as the hub for training and consultation services on reflective practice in Nebraska, and we hope others at CCFL will play a role in that. We also want to expand our work with early childhood mental health services, both in continuing to develop the CPP training program but also expanding to other early childhood mental health services and in the “reach” of those services to all Nebraska communities. We also would like to continue our work with juvenile courts by infusing therapeutic practices into the traditional court system.

Any resources or places we can visit to learn more about your project(s) i.e. Facebook, twitter, website etc.

Any upcoming trainings or events?
The statewide Nebraska Young Child Institute is June 26-27. We have frequent trainings as part of our reflective practice training program and are now offering quarterly awareness webinars for people who are interested in learning more about reflective practice. Jamie also frequently trains on the impact of trauma and how to use the trauma screen with children. She trained in Lincoln on June 7th, and the next one is September 20th in Norfolk. We also now manage the Child-Parent Psychotherapy training program (an 18-month long intensive program), and a new cohort will begin in January 2019 (with subsequent cohorts starting in January of every year). Applications for the CPP cohort will be available on September 5th.

Any recognition or awards received?
I have just hereby awarded Jennie and Jamie the Best Glitter Bottle Making Award for all the glitter bottles they have to make for reflective practice training (ask Jamie about them - I’m not sure anything about her job makes her happier).
