Congratulations to CEHS graduate students who swept the Graduate Student poster awards at the Rural Futures Conference November 3-5. All of the students, who work through the National Center for Research on Rural Education housed in CYFS, received an award which included cash prizes. The winners were:

First place: Amanda Witte, Mike Coutts, and Shannon Holmes for “The Impact of Teacher Motivation for Intervention on Rural Student Behavioral Outcomes.”

Second place: Shannon Holmes, Amanda Witte, Mike Coutts, and Tyler Smith for “Supporting Family-School Partnerships in Rural Communities: Preliminary Results of a Randomized Trial.”

There was a tie for third place: Mike Coutts, Shannon Holmes, and Tyler Smith for “Providing Specialized Services to Rural Educators: An Introduction to Conjoint Behavioral Consultation via Distance Delivery (CBC-D)” and Tyler Smith, Amanda Moen, and Zach Myers for “A Quantitative Synthesis of Family Engagement Interventions: A Preliminary Examination in Rural Context.”

Two of CYFS’ R2Ed’s posters received honorable mention: Mary Hellwege and Maureen O’Connor received this distinction for “Advancing Rural Education Research: Importance of Interdisciplinary Research Partnerships, as did Amanda Moen, Shannon Holmes and Sonya Bhatia for “Mental Health Challenges and Parenting Attributes in a Rural Early Head Start Sample.”
