Donate items for CEHS Giving Challenge by Dec. 15

CEHS Giving Challenge runs through Dec. 15.
CEHS Giving Challenge runs through Dec. 15.

The CEHS Giving Challenge is collecting items for the Huskers Helping Huskers Pantry+. Sponsored by the CEHS Staff Council, the Challenge ends Dec. 15. Last year, over 750 items were donated but this year’s count is well behind last year’s totals. Each CEHS faculty or staff member who participates in the 2017 Giving Challenge will be entered in a drawing for the chance to win one of two special crocheted afghans.

Food and shelter insecurities are an unfortunate reality for students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and nationwide. Nearly 1 in 3 students on our campus worry about not having enough food until they get money to buy more. Staff Council is dedicating this year’s CEHS Giving Challenge to the late Juan Franco who lead the launch of the Huskers Helping Huskers Pantry+. He was associate vice chancellor of student affairs and a faculty member in Educational Administration.

The Huskers Helping Huskers Pantry+ provides food and shelter insecure students with food, hygiene items, and school supplies for free. Any current student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln who is in need can stop by the Huskers Helping Huskers Pantry+ to pick up free food and hygiene items and/or get help connecting to university and community resources related to food and shelter insecurity.

Donations can be dropped in the bins at the Educational Administration office (141 TEAC) on City Campus, or at the CEHS Dean’s Office (105 HECO) on East Campus. A list of items needed is listed below. The December focus item is juice.
