Becoming more culturally and socially responsive educators

The Nebraska State Education Association is hosting the 2018 NSEA Capitol District Social Justice Retreat on July 28 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Irving Middle School in Lincoln. CEHS faculty, staff and graduate students are invited to attend.

CEHS graduate Jack Bangert, freshman transition coordinator and director of Teaching Academy at Omaha South High Magnet will speak about trauma-based education in his keynote presentation. Paul Yates, executive director of I've Got a Name, is the luncheon speaker who will discuss human trafficking in Nebraska. Breakout sessions will touch on a variety of topics including racial bias, institutional racism, implicit bias and micro/macro aggressions.
