Scholars and policymakers will address the world’s prospects for peace and prosperity at the symposium “Seeking a Just World Order: The Quest for Peace and Prosperity,” on Saturday, Oct 27, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the University of Nebraska East Campus Union, 1705 Arbor Drive, Lincoln, Neb. The symposium is a collaboration between the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Nebraska (OLLI at UNL) and the Winter Lecture Series of the Unitarian Church of Lincoln. The event is open to the public and registration is required.
Despite setbacks, after the end of World War II, the world has progressed. Wars between major powers ended, tolerance for minorities and women’s rights increased in places, and international political and scientific cooperation led to reductions in poverty, hunger, and infant mortality. But the setbacks include continuing terrorism, the resurgence of narrow nationalism, and the political and economic instability that has led to unprecedented numbers of refugees.
Speakers will address specific topics such as economic alliances and trade organizations, military alliances and the treaties that limit nuclear proliferation. Speakers include:

• U.S. Congressman Jeff Fortenberry, U. S. House of Representatives, Nebraska 1st District
