Duppong Hurley to lead research presentation

Kristin Duppong Hurley, research professor of special education and communication disorders at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and co-director of the Academy for Child and Family Well-Being, will lead a Dec. 3 research presentation on parental support of children with emotional or behavioral needs.

During her presentation, titled “Can a phone call make a difference? Investigating parent-to-parent support to improve attitudes toward school and mental health services,” Duppong Hurley will discuss her research on an innovative parent-to-parent support intervention for families of middle school students with an individualized education plan for emotional or behavioral needs.

She will also discuss potential research collaboration to encourage parental involvement with their child’s school and mental health providers.

Duppong Hurley’s presentation is from 1–2:30 p.m. in the Nebraska Union Heritage Room. It is open to the public.
