The Nebraska History Museum will feature a new exhibit entitled "Crafting Culture: Women and the Business of Textiles in Nebraska." The exhibit will be up from April 12 to July 13, 2019. Enterprising women are part of Nebraska's story. Crafting Culture weaves together historical examples of women in Nebraska's dress and textiles industries with contemporary women seeking to make their own mark in the field. CEHS's Department of Textiles, Merchandising, & Fashion and the Asian Community and Cultural Center partnered with History Nebraska to create this exhibit. Support for the exhibit was provided by the Pearle Francis Finigan Foundation, Humanities Nebraska, the International Quilt Study Center and Museum, and the Lincoln Modern Quilt Guild.

The exhibit will kick off with the Crafting Culture Opening Reception and Free Family Day. There will be a panel discussion with UNL TMFD Student entrepreneurs in textiles, craft and sewing activities, tours of the new exhibit, stories from Africa, China, and the Middle East, and a pop up shop. The opening reception will be 5-7 p.m. on April 12, 2019. Click on the link to learn more.
