Hello Chemistry Majors,

Welcome to Fall 2025! If this is your first semester at UNL, I am so glad you are here and part of the CAS and Chemistry community. If you are returning, welcome back! I hope your summer gave you a chance to rest, recharge, and enjoy new experiences.

A new semester can feel exciting, overwhelming, or somewhere in between, and that is completely normal. You do not have to figure it all out on your own. As your Chemistry Academic Advisor, I am here to help you navigate classes, enrollment, graduation planning, resources, and anything else that comes up. Our goal is to meet at least once per semester to ensure your plan keeps you on track. Until then, I am wishing you all a FANTASTIC first week! You have got this, and I am here every step of the way!

This week, consider:
  • Start building a study plan to stay on track academically
  • Organize your schedule so you can balance classes, work, and activities
  • Learn your professor’s office hours, syllabus, and tutoring options
  • Reflect on how you best take notes
  • Get connected on campus by meeting new people and exploring opportunities such as attending the Involvement Fair on Wednesday, August 27 and participating in Welcome Week events to learn about campus resources and UNL
  • Reflect on your fall schedule and make any changes (if needed) by the academic calendar deadline(s)

About Me:
  • Hometown: Crystal Lake, Illinois (Northwest Chicago suburb)
  • Education: As a first-generation college student, I earned my AS degree before obtaining a BA in Communication Studies with a focus in Public Relations and an MS in College Student Affairs
  • Advising Experience: I have worked in higher education advising for 8+ years and have been at UNL for one year. Since I was a junior in college, my “dream job” was to be an Academic Advisor and I am thankful every day to make my personal and professional goal a reality thanks to YOU!
  • Free Time: Outside of work, I enjoy exploring new places and cuisines (always open to recommendations!), trying new recipes and crafts (mostly Pinterest and TikTok fails… haha), brunch outings (a nod to my surprise brunch wedding), trying to keep plants alive (tips!?), and being a homebody with my spouse, Andrew, and rescue dog, Blu.

Be sure to read the biweekly advising newsletter to stay in the know! It is your go-to source for important advising updates, upcoming events, academic deadlines, scholarships, and other opportunities related to your major. If you ever have questions, information to share, or feedback about the newsletter, please contact me at rwebster5@unl.edu.

Remember, I am only an email, Drop-In, or appointment away!

Smiles,
Rachelle Webster (pronounced ruh-SHEL WEB-ster)
