Nebraska climbs to No. 35 in global entrepreneurship ranking, No. 10 in the Midwest

There’s truly no place like Nebraska for entrepreneurs. The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is officially No. 35 in the world for undergraduate entrepreneurship education. After jumping seven spots from last year, this ranking reflects the life-changing, hands-on experiences available to students like you, who want to build, launch and lead.

“Jumping seven spots in the global rankings is evidence that our investment in students, faculty and cross-campus entrepreneurship is making a real impact,” said University of Nebraska President Jeffrey Gold. “At Nebraska, we don’t just teach entrepreneurship, we live it through hands-on innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration and a growing network that empowers students to lead boldly in any industry.”

This major recognition comes from a powerful cross-campus collaboration. For the second year in a row, five programs united to elevate Nebraska’s position: the Center for Entrepreneurship, Clifton Strengths Institute Builders Program, Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program, Jeffrey S. Raikes School of Computer Science and Management, and Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts. The Center for Entrepreneurship led the effort to compile and submit the data.

“Nebraska's rise in the global rankings is due to the collaborative nature and the entrepreneurial mindset that runs throughout this university, our community and our state,” said Sam Nelson, Bauermeister Family Presidential Chair in Entrepreneurship, director of the Center for Entrepreneurship, and professor of practice in management. “Our faculty, staff, alumni and industry partners come together to provide transformative opportunities for students, whether they choose to launch a new venture, solve a real-world challenge or apply their entrepreneurial skills in any career.”

Here’s what this momentum means for you as a student: a 15% increase in students taking entrepreneurship courses, an 11.5% increase in entrepreneurship-related courses offered, students from 109 of UNL’s 120 majors participating, and faculty who bring real entrepreneurial experience directly into the classroom.

You’re studying at one of the top-ranked entrepreneurship universities in the world. The only question now is what you will do with that opportunity. Whether you choose to enroll in an entrepreneurship course, participate in one of the center’s events or competitions, or meet with a member of our team to explore your ideas, we are here to help you take the next step.
