Join local founders and visit two local businesses during Field Trip with a Fellow March 11

Join us on March 11 from 4-6 PM for our Field Trip with a Fellow, where we’ll visit both Goldenrod Pastries and Wax Buffalo, two local businesses built from bold ideas and relentless passion.

Both Angela Garbacz and Alicia Reisinger, the founders of both businesses, are Entrepreneurship Community Fellows, meaning they’re dedicated to helping students like you explore what’s possible in the world of entrepreneurship. Whether you dream of launching your own business or just want to meet inspiring founders who have been in your shoes, this is a great opportunity for you.

First Stop: Goldenrod Pastries
Goldenrod started as a simple blog in 2013, where Angela shared her experiments in dairy-free baking. But as more people craved her unique creations, she realized there was a gap in the market. In 2015, she opened Lincoln’s only diet-inclusive bakery—and from opening night, when the line wrapped around the block, it was clear she had created something special. Since then, Goldenrod has gained national recognition from Martha Stewart Living, Food & Wine, Cherry Bombe, and Forbes while serving thousands of pastries, cakes, and cookies to the community.

Second Stop: Wax Buffalo
Alicia started Wax Buffalo in her kitchen, pouring soy candles by hand late at night while her family slept. What began as a creative outlet turned into a business that now reaches customers across the country. Today, Wax Buffalo Pure Soy Candle Co. is a beloved, woman-owned brand, crafting small-batch, handmade home goods that bring warmth to modern homes.

Why You Should Join
This field trip isn’t just about seeing cool businesses - it’s about meeting the people behind them. You’ll hear firsthand how Angela and Alicia built their brands, overcame challenges, and turned ideas into reality. Plus, it’s a chance to connect with fellow students who share your curiosity for entrepreneurship.
