The Husker Hustle Scholarship is now accepting applications and invites University of Nebraska–Lincoln students who are actively building, running, or growing a business to apply. Established by UNL alum and entrepreneur Janna Ronert (’87), founder of IMAGE Skincare, the scholarship was created to support students who are passionate about their ideas and committed to learning through action. IMAGE Skincare began when Ronert couldn’t find paraben-free skincare to address her rosacea and has since grown into a global brand serving customers in more than 60 countries. Her entrepreneurial journey and persistence are at the heart of the Husker Hustle mission.
Each year, two $2,500 scholarships are awarded to current sophomores and juniors (graduating in 2027 or 2028) from any major at Nebraska. Applicants should be able to speak to concrete progress in their venture, whether they’re launching, refining, or scaling a business, nonprofit, or creative endeavor. The application process begins with a written submission, including a resumé and short essay responses about the student’s venture, recent hustle or initiative, and how the scholarship would support their entrepreneurial journey while at Nebraska.
Applications are due Sunday, March 22 at 11:59pm, with finalists notified on Monday, March 30.
Selected finalists will be invited to an in-person presentation and selection event on Wednesday, April 15, where they’ll share their entrepreneurial journey in a conversational setting with the selection committee and Janna Ronert herself. This event is not a pitch competition, but an opportunity to reflect on lessons learned, showcase hustle, and discuss future direction.
