For anyone who has ever presented an idea, one moment can feel especially intimidating: the questions that follow. Sometimes they are thoughtful and constructive. Other times they are skeptical, dismissive, or unexpectedly tough. Learning how to stay composed in those moments is a skill every entrepreneur, leader, and professional eventually needs.
At Command the Room, hosted by the Nebraska Center for Entrepreneurship, students will hear candid stories from the front lines of pitching. We’ve invited two accomplished founders to share what those moments really look like behind the scenes.
Molly Huyck, founder and CEO of AeQuitas Invest, and Jennifer DiMotta, founder of Dundee Growth Partners, will pull back the curtain on the tough and at times dismissive or flat-out challenging questions they’ve faced while building and presenting their businesses. Many of these moments happened in rooms where they didn’t immediately feel seen, heard, or fully understood.
Their stories are real, unfiltered, and powerful. More importantly, they will walk you through the strategies they use to respond with clarity, confidence, and composure when the room feels skeptical, distracted, or stacked against them.
Students attending will gain insight into how experienced founders command attention, navigate difficult questions, and ensure their ideas receive the consideration they deserve.
Whether you are preparing for a class presentation, pitching a business idea, interviewing for a job, or leading a team discussion, the ability to communicate confidently under pressure is a skill that will serve you throughout your career.
