Preparing and Submitting Proposals
Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1-3 p.m.


This session provides an overview of the proposal planning process and the offices within the Office of Research and Economic Development that offer support at different stages of proposal preparation.

Budget Preparation and Development
Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1-3:30 p.m.


Get hands-on practice creating effective proposal budget justifications; learn about specific budget categories and allowability of costs; review principles of cost sharing and subcontracting.

Preparing for Awards and Managing Contracts
Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1-2 p.m.


Learn about applying for and managing contracts and other types of agreements, as well as special circumstances that may arise while waiting for an award.

Research Responsibility
Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1-2:30 p.m.


This overview explains programs that govern the use of animals in research and ensure protections of human subjects involved in research, as well as policies related to conflict of interest, the responsible conduct of research, research misconduct, export control, and hESc/hFT research.

Award Administration
Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1-3:30 p.m.


Learn about procedures for setting up accounts, managing subcontracts, documenting allowable costs, making post-award changes, closing an award and participating in an audit.

Project Verification Statements (PVS)
Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1-2:30 p.m.


This overview of the project-based methodology focuses on a system of internal controls that ensure compliance with the Uniform Guidance on federal, federal pass-through and/or cost share projects. This session is encouraged prior to Cost Sharing.

Cost Sharing
Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1-2:30 p.m.


Learn about what cost share and match are, how they are managed at the University of Nebraska, and the process and procedures for reporting cost share. Training on PVS is encouraged before taking this session.
