Chancellor’s Commissions on the Status of Women seeking new members for 2022 term

The Chancellor’s Commissions on the Status of Women (CCSW) advises the chancellor on issues that impact gender equity and on specific concerns of women-identifying faculty, staff, and students. The commission seeks to promote inclusiveness at UNL and encourages the campus community to create an environment where each person feels a sense of belonging.

Annually, the commission recognizes outstanding faculty, staff, and student efforts to create a climate that encourages women to succeed. Over the last 12 months, the commission has been actively engaged on issues related to equitable family leave policies; a mental health and well-being survey for faculty and staff, which was fielded in November; the creation of Grad Gals, a social networking opportunity for women-identifying graduate students at UNL; efforts to develop a Staff Senate; co-hosting an intersectionality panel, the focus of which was how one’s identities impacts one’s mental health; and submitting position statements in response to incidents of sexual misconduct and the closing of student family housing.

The CCSW is now seeking applications for new members whose terms will begin August 2022. Members on the commission represent the faculty, staff, and students on campus. Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis, but priority will be given to those submitted by April 30.
