The UNL Research and Innovation (R&I) Book Fellowship and Manuscript Workshop staff will be available to answer questions about the program on Tuesday, Nov. 12 in the Nebraska Union Regency Suite during Nebraska Research Days.
Register at the link below for the 10 a.m.-noon session “How to Select a Publisher and Negotiate a Contract.” Also available that day is a session during which UNL authors will read passages from their books. Register here. Lunch will be available as a registration option between sessions.
The R&I program is seeking proposals for the 2024-25 academic year. Proposals must be submitted in NuRamp by 5 p.m. Jan. 15, 2025. The deadline for 2025-26 is expected to be the second Friday in October.
The purpose of this program is to provide faculty a block of time to write a new book and/or funding to publish a new book. The block of time may include a course buyout for one semester and/or one month of summer salary support. This program also will provide support for manuscript workshops to enhance the quality of faculty-published books. Funding from this program is intended to complement internal funding for research that may generate content for a book.
Books are defined by the Association of American Universities as: books, case books, edited volumes, encyclopedias and textbooks. Proceedings, chapters and study guides are not included in the AAU definition of books. Updates to current editions will not be supported by this program.
