This year, the Dean’s Office is sponsoring a monthly College Connector social to provide opportunities for faculty and staff in our College to connect with other colleagues. On City/East Campuses, the location will move monthly, while on Scott Campus, these will be held in PKI 100A.
Please join us for the College Connector next week:
· Thur. 11/16 from 3:30-4:30 p.m., Larsen Tractor Test & Power Museum (East Campus): come and see the newly installed mural; opportunities available to tour the nearby Advanced Machinery Systems Lab!
· Fri. 11/17 from 3-4 p.m., PKI 100A (Scott Campus)
Here’s a little more on the Larsen Museum mural, which was installed on Oct. 26:
Tom Meyers, a local artist, was commissioned by the Friends of the Larsen Tractor Test & Power Museum to do an artwork that was scanned and printed onto a heavy wallpaper and installed on a half-wall in our children's area. The original work is a pastel on artboard that is 16" x 8' and is hanging in the William Splinter Memorial Gallery in the museum. It incorporates the work of tractors and the history of tractor testing, beginning with an abandoned Ford tractor (not made by Henry) and ending with a tractor being tested on the Nebraska Tractor Test Lab track. The first tractor is a Rumley Oil Pull, which inspired the test law, shown plowing, then a Farmall shown cultivating, followed by an Allis Chalmers planting, and a Ford (made by Henry) baling, with a John Deere harvest operation to wrap up the story. The background includes an old windmill, a farmstead with cattle in the pasture, a town in the distance, and modern windmills when it reaches the most current images.
Coffee and light refreshments will be served. Please stop by, even briefly, to learn more about the activities of colleagues in the College.
Best regards,
Lily Wang,
Associate Dean for Graduate Programs and Faculty Development
