Two engineering faculty – Ece Erdogmus, professor of architectural engineering, and Hossein Noureddini, professor and chair of chemical and biomolecular engineering – are among 10 University of Nebraska-Lincoln faculty chosen by the Executive Vice Chancellor’s Office to attend Big Ten Academic Alliance leadership programs this year.

More than 50 employees were honored during the university’s annual Celebration of Service on Sept. 25. The event recognized more than 1,000 university employees for service anniversaries from five to more than 50 years.

Daniel Linzell, associate dean of graduate and international programs and Voelte-Keegan Professor of civil engineering, was honored for his five years of service by being featured in a University Communication video that was posted on the Nebraska Today Facebook page.

George Meyer, professor of biological systems engineering, is part of a team that received the 2018 Award for Excellence in Multistate Research from the Northeast Regional Association of State Agricultural Experiment Station Directors. Meyer is part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service Technical Committee NE1335, which features horticulturists and biological systems engineers from 12 institutions. The research team conducts experiments using controlled-environment systems such as hydroponics, aquaponics and vertical farms.
