Do you like logic challenges? Do you want to improve your programing skills? Do you enjoy competition?

You should come to the Computer Programing Challenges meetings on Mondays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Avery 345, starting Sept. 9.

We will be presenting computer science topics each week and then taking a majority of the time to work on programing. Problems tied to the topic presented will be provided or you can bring your own problems, but please tell us if it is a homework problems. These topics will be largely centered around algorithms like those taught in CSCE 310, therefore students in 310 may find these sessions particularly useful. Those of all skill levels are invited to come.

The major competition we take part in is the International Collegiate Programming Competition. UNL has had a team qualify in 10 of the last 20 years. This year's World Finals will be held in Moscow, Russia. These practices would help you prepare for other competitions as well, for example, Google Code Jam.

If you are not interested in the competitions, but you would like to improve your understanding of the language you prefer to code in; you want to increase the accuracy and speed with which you code; you have a desire to be more fluent with coding and using data structures; you wish to strengthen your ability to design and implement algorithms, then this will likely fit your interests.
