CSE Department Chair Marilyn Wolf will kick off the CSE Tech Talk Series with her talk, “Safe and Secure Cyber-Physical and IoT Systems,” at noon on Nov. 6 via Zoom.
Abstract: Cyber-physical systems operate in many important, safety-critical environments. Safety and security have traditionally been separate disciplines: safety from traditional engineering, security from computer science. The advent of cyber-physical systems that tightly couple computers and physical systems mean that we can no longer treat these topics as separate. This talk will survey examples of safety and security issues in modern systems, compare and contrast methodologies for physical safety and information security, and consider possible approaches to enhance safety and security.
