Welcome to this first installment of Chair's Corner. We will use this forum for a variety of purposes: important information, inspiration, and a little bit of fun.
I do hope that you had a good spring break. Chances are that you spent some of that time worrying. Hopefully you can take some comfort in the knowledge that all of us—all the way up to the Chancellor—spent spring break working hard to make your UNL experience both safe and successful. The Chancellor has made it very clear to all of us that he has two equally important goals: maintaining a safe environment and maximizing the academic success of all of our students.
I have spent a great deal of time with the department staff and faculty to get ready for the transition to remote teaching. While we may encounter some rough patches as we all navigate this new territory together, I think that this method of learning will be successful. CSE courses by their nature are well suited to remote studies. I expect that some of the new techniques we try will turn out to be useful innovations that we will continue to use even when we return to a more traditional learning format.
We are embarking on this adventure together. We will make it through together.
