Professor Sharad Seth's retirement reception will be held Thursday, April 12 from 4 - 5:30 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the Schorr Center. There is a short workshop in honor of Dr. Seth preceding the reception in 108 Avery Hall. The schedule is as follows:

1. 2:00-2:05pm, Opening remarks (TBA)
2. 2:05-2:25pm, Presentation by Xiaolei Cai
3. 2:25-2:45pm, Presentation by Paul Kenyon
4. 2:45-3:05pm, remarks by distance participants via skype
5. 3:05-3:30pm, remarks by in-room participants
6. 3:30-3:55pm, "Last Lecture" by Dr. Seth
3:55-4:00pm, walk to Schorr Center for the reception
7. 4:15, presentations begin

He has been a member of the faculty in the department since 1970 and has had a great impact on CSE students over the years.

Seth received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 1970 from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. This past semester he taught Computer Organization and Senior Design. His current research interests are VLSI testing, computer architecture, and document image analysis.

He was the Director of the Center for Communication and Information Science and the Major Advisor of Graduate Student Research. He received the IEEE Fellow Award in 1997 and has secured numerous grants over the years, including grants from the Intel Corporation and UNL. He also has served on the JETTA Editorial Board since 1990.

Department Chair Dr. Steve Goddard said the following: "Professor Sharad Seth's retirement is a significant milestone for CSE. Sharad joined our faculty in 1970, and none of us have known a time when he wasn't a core member of our community. His humor, insights, wisdom, and dedication to CSE have shaped our department for 42 years, and he will be greatly missed."
