The Holland Computing Center is hiring an Application Specialist.

This position is responsible for contributing to a broad mission of the Holland Computing Center (HCC) and several national cyberinfrastructure organizations, promoting the use of high performance cyberinfrastructure and a wide variety of research projects requiring research computing, storage, and/or cyberinfrastructure. Responsible for working with researchers and supercomputer system administration staff and students to install/optimize software and/or workflows; facilitate and organize grant proposals related to, and supportive of cyberinfrastructure.

Minimum Requirements:
Master’s degree in a scientific or computational field, plus two year’s experience in scientific computing or computational modeling required. Must have experience with a programming language such as C/C++, FORTRAN/F90, or Java. Linux system administration familiarity necessary. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written essential.

Preferred Qualifications:
PhD in a scientific or computational field, with experience in scientific programming, grant writing, or computational research. Experience with high-performance computing (HPC) and/or high-throughput computing (HTC) environments. Knowledge of container technologies such as Docker or Singularity. Scripting skills in Python, Perl, bash, or similar areas. Experience with grant or proposal writing. Teaching experience at the college level.
