The webinar will be led by attorneys who will discuss the benefits of the open source community, common licenses and the software's effect on university technology commercialization.

NUtech Ventures, the university’s technology commercialization affiliate, is hosting a free noon webinar on Tuesday, May 18, titled "Open Source Software 101: The Basics." It is open to all Nebraska faculty, staff, postdoctoral researchers and students.

The webinar will be led by Ameera Haider, Stephen Gardner and Dillon Durnford, attorneys at law firm Quarles & Brady. They will present the philosophy and benefits of the open source community, and discuss common open source licenses. They will also discuss open source software’s effect on university technology commercialization, with real-world examples related to intellectual property protection and licensing to external companies.
