The Jeffrey S. Raikes School of Computer Science and Management invites students to apply to become a Design Studio associate for the 2022-23 school year.

What is Design Studio?
• Student teams producing innovative solutions during an academic year for Sponsors who provide a real-world problem in need of solution
• Teams consist of 5-6 junior and senior students working 12-15 hours per week for 30 weeks across two semesters to complete a project
• Students are a mix of Raikes School Juniors, Raikes School Seniors, and Honors Students from other UNL colleges selected through an application process

What types of projects are available?
• Projects have industry-relevant work so students can deliver an MVP to demonstrate value to a business, non-profit, or government agency
• Projects vary from solving business problems through software and new product development, to machine learning tools, and many others

How does a Design Studio project work?
• Projects run September through May
• Agile software development follows a six-release cycle where Sponsors provide continuous feedback on product development progress
• You work collectively with your Sponsor organization contact to develop a forward-looking solution

What makes me a good candidate?
• Do you have the curiosity to see technical solutions to business problems that could lead to the development of a product for a real organization?
• Are you interested in software development and building a solution that is not only innovative, but has business value?
• Would you like to put your skills to the test experiencing a technology-focused project supervised by professors and industry-experienced professionals?

What majors make up the project team?
• Computer Science, Computer Eng., Software Eng., Mechanical Eng., Math, Finance, Management, Economics, Actuarial Science, and several others

Why should I do it?
• Learn Agile and adopt cutting-edge technology project management practices
• Gain experience in a variety of stacks and languages, including Typescript, Flutter, Dart, Tensorflow, MongoDB, Neo4j, Kubernetes, AWS Lambda, Azure, and more!
• Jumpstart your career to gain experience that aids in finding internships
• Work with students from other colleges and majors to develop a global perspective on product development
