Learning Assistant Program

Looking to get more involved this semester and boost your resume?

The School of Computing's Learning Assistant Program is still looking to fill open positions for the fall 2022 semester! Apply now to become a learning assistant in introductory computer science courses. Learning assistants are paid $12/hour.

There are currently open LA positions for CSCE 101 (Python), CSCE 155E (C), and CSCE 155N (MatLab). You do not need to have taken the course to apply. As long as you are an undergraduate student with some experience with the relevant language, your application will be considered.

As an LA, you would:
- Host labs and office hours to aid students with concepts and programming
- Grade assignments, projects, and possibly other coursework
- Attend meetings with other program members
- Gain access to training, technical workshops, and social events held by the program
- Other responsibilities depending on your specific course

LAs will develop both technical and professional skills by working closely with students, instructors, and other LAs to ensure that the course runs smoothly.

The expected number of hours per week is 8-12, and LAs are paid at a rate of $12/hour. Opportunities exist in subsequent semesters for higher leadership positions, including course leaders ($15/hour) and senior leaders ($20/hour).
