Want to work with UNL leaders, impact the lives of incoming students, and live for free in Lincoln over the summer? Apply to be an Orientation Leader! Students will learn great skills by developing knowledge in college success strategies and participating in on-campus programs.

Responsibilities of an Orientation Leader include:

• Develop an expertise in new student transition issues and college success strategies
• Develop a complete information base about UNL services and programs and effectively relate this knowledge to others
• Understand MyRED and effectively teach new students how to use it
• Facilitate discussions for large groups of students and parents while walking on campus
• Attend all training sessions
• Participate in the various programs: Summer NSE, Transfer NSE, Mid Year Orientation, International Student Orientation, Big Red Welcome and Mid Semester Check

Time Commitment:

Spring Semester
• Training sessions each week beginning Tuesday, January 8, 2013, 7-10 p.m.
• Team-building Retreat: Monday, January 11, 2013, 4-11 p.m.
Training for Summer Program
• May 21, 2013 through June 7, 2013
Summer Program
• June 10, 2013 through July 12, 2013
Late NSE
• August 15-16, 2013
International Orientation & Big Red Welcome
• August 20-30, 2013
Mid Semester Check
• September 16-19, 2013

Applications are now online and are due November 12. To be considered, applicants must have at least sophomore status, be enrolled full-time at UNL, have strong interpersonal skills, appreciate diversity and have sensitivity toward a variety of ideas and values, and be able to work as part of a team to accomplish group goals.
