The CSE Department held CSE Day on Monday, March 25. Students came from across Nebraska to participate. The event was a means of promoting computer science and engineering, and to encourage high school students to consider a major in one of these fields.

The event was a success with 50 students attending. Participants competed in a programming competition with 14 teams. Students were treated to lunch, which was followed by an awards ceremony. This two and a half hour contest is modeled after that of the Association for Computing Machinery's. Teams of three students attempted to solve several programming problems, which range in difficulty from very easy to nearly impossible.

This year's winners are as follows:

1st Place: The Snake Charmers of Millard West High School
2nd Place: #1 of Lincoln's Information Technology Focus Program
3rd Place: Something Intimidating of Bellevue East High School

Each member of the top two teams for the programming contest received a scholarship to attend UNL. First place team members received $1000 and second place $500, payable in two installments their first year at UNL. The schools of the top three teams received plaques.
