Software Engineer – Critical Systems Development (Positive Train Control)
This Software Engineering position’s primary focus will be on high volume, low latency, high availability, mission critical messaging software for Union Pacific’s Positive Train Control (PTC) system using C/C++ and Linux.
The candidate must have experience
developing C/C++ applications which have a very high availability requirement and have a high impact on business operations as well as experience using C++ with real time programming constructs and inter-process communication functionality.

A Graduate Assistantship has opened up within the department:
Graduate Assistantship Available for Qualified Programmer in Web Development
A javascript/html5 programmer is needed to create simulations for teaching. This position can be a graduate assistantship, but our needs are flexible and can match the needs of a qualified applicant. The optimal candidate will have experience with both Javascript/HTML5 and graphics programming as well as targeting mobile devices. The modules will have background information, a simulation with exercises, and “graphical” assessment components (think answering by dragging and dropping icons). This position will focus on creating the simulations, while other employees would handle the other components of the project. A grad student is needed who can do the bulk of the JavaScript programming for the project and test the simulations on various mobile devices. The specification and design will be furnished for the programmer, but evolution of the design is anticipated as lessons are learned in the development process and the product is tested.
