In her lecture titled Data Mining and Modeling in Cancer Research, Dr. Cui will present her research and its relation to computer science and engineering.

Dr. Juan Cui is an assistant professor with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Before joining UNL, she was a research assistant with the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Georgia where she had her own postdoctoral training, and led a group in cancer bioinformatics and established her own research program. She has published over 30 scientific articles and two book chapters in the field of bioinformatics, computational biology, and immunology and cancer research, plus two US patents in cancer diagnostic biomarkers discovery. She has also been involved in professional services including serving as a member of editorial boards of bioinformatics journals and program committees of international bioinformatics conferences, and chairing cancer informatics workshops.

Dr. Cui was born in Xi’an, China. In 2002, she received her B.E. from Northwestern Polytechnic University. After graduation, she went to National University of Singapore to continue her graduate study in computational science.
