The best mentor candidates will possess the following qualities:

-Excitement for helping others, specifically first-year students
-High standards for their own personal academic achievement
-Ability to be a team player and be self-motivated when working independently
-Knowledge of the LC’s subject area
-Willingness to live on the assigned residence hall floor with the LC students

As you know, the upperclass mentor is an extremely valuable part of the LC experience for first-year students. Through this role, upperclass students gain valuable leadership experience and skills in mentoring. It is a paid position requiring an average of 6-7 hours/week. Students are compensated with a $625/semester stipend.
