The Water for Food Institute is looking for a web design intern to build a dynamic and highly functional site to showcase partnership-based programs of the WFI. In particular, the intern will develop a webpage for a conference on water scarcity and human security aspects of the Syrian crisis that will take place on April 19-20.
Duties will include configuration of the basic structure of the website; ensure function and visual appeal of website on multiple platforms; work with graphic design intern to package preexisting designs into website design; work with interns from UNL Global Studies program interns to generate content for website; develop relationships with WFI staff.
Pay for the position will be $10/hour, with approximately 80 hours of time estimated for completion of tasks. The web design intern will work with Craig Eiting, WFI’s web developer and graphic design specialist, with Richael Young and Paul Noel, WFI’s program associates, and with other WFI faculty and staff as needed.
Note: This internship is not for academic credit.
Required Knowledge, Ability and Skills:
• Self-Learner. Ability to find solutions to problems independently with minimal assistance.
• Knowledge of graphic and web design technologies including experience using Adobe Illustrator
and Adobe Photoshop
• Basic understanding of HTML/CSS and PHP
• Understanding of WordPress and the underlying structure under the CMS.
• Ability to use tools and creative design skills to a produce product that meets set requirements
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Excellent design skills, including knowledge of web design trends
• Pursuing a degree within Art, Graphic Design, Information Technology, Management
Information Systems or related field
