Prescott Elementary School is joining the Makerspace movement. A program in pursuit of creating a culture of children excited about science, technology, engineering, math and arts.
Makerspace would enable 3rd, 4th and 5th grade student participants to explore ideas and create using a variety of materials such as: Legos, K’NEX, Tinker Toys, robots, circuits, magnets, motors and arts and crafts materials. The children will be acting as scientist and artists as they explore, question, investigate, draw evidence and create. In addition, the program will promote other skills important in life such as: problem-solving, flexibility, confidence and collaboration.
Prescott is looking for volunteers and/or student-employed members to be career role models and mentors. This program will take place twice a week on Mondays and Fridays beginning January 25th, 2016. Please contact Cristina Keen, Prescott School Community Coordinator, at ckeen@lps.org or 402-580-0195 if you are interested.
