
BSE-PIE Student Support Group consists of hourly employed undergraduate students of biological systems, electrical, electronics, computer science, and mechanical engineering departments. The primary goal of BSE-PIE is to support graduate students, post-docs and faculty members with their programming, instrumentation and electronics research and extension project needs. BSE-PIE is hiring another part-time position that would pay $10-12 per hour.
Recommended Skills:
-Embedded controller and software programming
-Basic electrical, electronic circuit and PCB board development skills
-3D computer solid model development and prototyping (e.g., SolidWorks modeling)
-Application development using MATLAB, VB.Net, C, C++ or any other equivalent programming languages
-Smart phone application development
Current Projects:
-SensiPlate: Development of an instrumented plate for automated dietary intake measurement
-Horse FitBit: Development of a horse physical activity measurement sensor
-Air Emissions Monitoring: Air sampling and monitoring systems for measuring emissions of methane and other gases from ruminants
-Robotic Plant Phenotyping: Use of robotic manipulator for plant leaf sensing
-Mobile Agricultural Robotics: Autonomous navigation using GPS and Lidar sensors for applications in Greenhouse and field settings
