The Jeffrey S. Raikes School of Computer Science and Management is excited to announce two summer workshop opportunities for current high school students and teachers.
Students - "Innovate: The Raikes School Way" and "Girls Who Innovate: The Raikes School Way"
Dates: July 17 to July 29
Target Audience: High school students who will enter the 2017-18 school year as a junior or senior
Cost: $525 upon acceptance into the workshop (limited scholarships are available)
· Two-week, project-oriented, on-campus workshop (will stay in the Kauffman Center)
· Learn basic programming skills and innovation concepts
· Receive instruction from Raikes School faculty members
· Visit campus departments (CB3 Labs) and local businesses (Hudl, Nmotion, etc.)
· No computer science experience is necessary
Important Dates:
· Wednesday, March 1: Application to Participate and Scholarship Application deadline
· Wednesday, March 15: Applicants who are accepted will be notified
· Friday, March 31: Accepted applicants full registration payment due (for their spot to be secured)
Teachers - “Adventures in Alice”
Dates: June 5-16, 2017
Target Audience: Middle and high school teachers in the areas of math, science, business/career education and technology
Cost: Free, will receive a $500-$1000 stipend upon successful completion of the workshop
· Learn how to create code and create animated stories and games to incorporate into lesson plans at school
· Option to receive 3 graduate credits
· Can commute or stay in the Kauffman Center
· No computer science experience is necessary
Important Dates:
· Wednesday, March 29 – Application to participate due
· Wednesday, April 12 – Applicants who are accepted will be notified
