OurCS is a three day research-focused workshop offered through Indiana University Bloomington providing opportunities for undergraduate women to work on exploratory problems in teams led by researchers from academia and industry.
Workshop participants will:
· Meet others who share their curiosity and interest in computer science.
· Explore the research experience in computing related domains.
· Work hands-on with researchers.
· Work in a team to tackle a research problem.
· (Optional) Present a poster: great for first timers!
· Broaden understanding of the possibilities of graduate school and the application process.
· Have a chance to learn about life in graduate school from the perspectives of current graduate students.
Who may attend OurCS?
We welcome women undergraduates from schools (large and small) throughout Indiana to apply.
Women students from outside Indiana may also apply. For out-of-state participants, preference is given to first-generation or low-income students, and women from historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs).
OurCS started at Carnegie Mellon University in 2007 as a nationwide effort to increase the participation of women in computing-related research careers [website]. This is the first regional version of OurCS and we are delighted to bring this novel initiative to the Midwest.
