Research Assistant to the Cambridge Mathematics team, U.K.

We are developing the Cambridge Mathematics Framework - a flexible, connected structure that aims to map mathematics learning for 3- to 19-year-olds.

Over the last few years, we have noticed that definitions of mathematical words tend to be inconsistent and may even contain errors. This has encouraged us to develop a glossary app that will act as a crowdsourcing tool and will collect information about existing definitions, such as how accurate and accessible they are. We want to see what the mathematics education community (academics, teachers, researchers, assessment and resource developers, etc.) perceive to be good definitions and what they think is lacking in already-existing definitions.

This information will allow us to build a picture of what strong, accurate definitions of mathematics vocabulary should contain. Ultimately, we will use the information collected to think about the glossary that will be embedded in the Cambridge Mathematics Framework.

If you or and/or any of your colleagues are interested in joining the CM Define It and giving your opinion on the definitions, you can sign up by visiting https://cmdefineit.org or by installing an app version for:
