Aaberg earns Sliffe award from MAA AMC

The MAA American Mathematics Competitions has named Shelby Aaberg a winner of the 2022 Edyth May Sliffe Awards for Distinguished Mathematics Teaching in Middle School and High School.

Aaberg, a math teacher at Scottsbluff High School and Bluffs Middle School, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, was nominated by Bluffs principal Jana Mason. The Sliffe awards are given annually to teachers who provide outstanding support to students participating in AMC competitions. Award recipients receive a $500 stipend, and complimentary housing and travel expenses to MAA MathFest in Tampa for August 2023.

Aaberg brings middle school and high school students to UNL Math Day each year. He is a Noyce Master Teaching Fellow and course instructor in the UNL Master of Arts for Teachers program.
