Help us by nominating your peers! It's time to recruit a new cohort of teachers in Primarily Math, as part of UNL’s Nebraska Math and Science Summer Institutes (NMSSI). Do you have a K-3 colleague who would be a great fit for Primarily Math? If yes, we invite you to take one or more of the following steps to encourage them to apply to be a part of this next Primarily Math cohort:
· Tell your colleague to go to our website https://scimath.unl.edu/primarilymath to learn more about Primarily Math. Teachers who want to apply should prepare an essay and letters of recommendation for their application in CollegeNet to the K-3 Mathematics Specialist program. The application deadline is April 1.
· Nominate your colleague by emailing us at nebraskamath@unl.edu by Jan. 31, and we will send them an email inviting them to apply. (Be sure to include your colleague’s name, grade level and email address.)
· Volunteer to write a letter of recommendation for your colleague.
Teachers selected for the Primarily Math program will take Math 800P and Math 801P in Summer 2024, in July. Textbooks and course materials will be provided by UNL.
Because teachers qualify for a 20% tuition discount when they take NMSSI courses in person or via web conferencing, the cost for the two summer courses is approximately $1,200. This is well below the normal cost to take two graduate classes and some districts can provide additional tuition support.
