Official summer registration at UNL opens March 4. Our Nebraska Math and Science Summer Institutes (NMSSI) schedule is now posted online: https://scimath.unl.edu/nmssi-course-catalog-2024

The mathematics courses appear first, followed by mathematics pedagogy courses (TEAC) and science. The NMSSI is offering 15 courses designed with K-12 math and science teachers in mind, using either an asynchronous online format ("on demand" style), a synchronous web conferencing format ("live" on Zoom), or in person. See the catalog for course dates.

For elementary teachers:
- Math 800P and 801P – grades K-3 (must apply to Primarily Math program)

For middle-level mathematics teachers:
- Math 800T: Math as a Second Language, online asynchronous
- Math 802T: Functions, Algebra and Geometry, web conferencing
- Math 806T: Number Theory and Cryptology, in person Lincoln
- Math 807T: Using Math to Understand our World, web conferencing
- STAT 811T: Statistics for Middle-Level Teachers, in person Omaha

For secondary math teachers:
- Math 812T: Geometry for Geometry Teachers, web conferencing
- Math 893: Using Math to Aid in Problem Solving, online asynchronous
- Math 806T and 807T are also options

For K-12 math teachers:
- TEAC 807B: Teaching for Social Justice, in person Lincoln
- TEAC 849G: Assessment in Mathematics Education, web conferencing
- TEAC 808J: Attending to Language in Mathematics Education, web conferencing

For science teachers:
- GEOS 898: Methods in Geoscience Field Instruction, in person travel
- GEOS 898: Geology of our Solar System, in person Lincoln
- PHYS 892: Vectors in Introductory Physics, in person Lincoln

Nebraska K-12 teachers can apply for NMSSI Fellowships to defray tuition costs for NMSSI courses but funds are extremely limited this year.
