Earlier this year, The Mathematical Association of America (MAA) announced the winners of their 2025 Edyth May Sliffe Awards for Distinguished Teaching in Middle and High School. Among the 26 awarded is Westside High School teacher Angela Moiser of Omaha, Nebraska.

MAA strives to acknowledge exceptional mathematics educators who motivate student learning through participating in the MAA American Mathematics Competition (MAA AMC). When participating in the MAA AMC, students develop problem solving skills and mathematics knowledge that is different from what is usually seen in the classroom.

Students, parents, colleagues, and administrators were able to nominate teachers for these awards. The honored MAA AMC teachers will receive free registration, housing and travel, along with a $500 stipend to attend MAA MathFest in Boston, Massachusetts this fall. MAA MathFest is an annual conference where math educators and researchers from all across the country can connect over their enthusiasm for mathematics.
