Blomstedt named state's commissioner of education

The State Board of Education named Matt Blomstedt as the new Commissioner of Education on Thursday, Dec. 12.

Blomstedt is the executive director of the Nebraska Educational Service Unit Coordinating Council, and has worked with superintendents throughout the state. Blomstedt also was on the internal advisory board for our Math in the Middle grant. He has held a number of positions in Nebraska related to education and served as the first full-time executive director of the Nebraska Rural Community Schools Association.

Blomstedt currently resides in Central City, Neb.
