NMSSI Math 803P 2013 in Lincoln

We are pleased to announce the complete schedule for the 2014 Nebraska Math and Science Summer Institutes (NMSSI) is now available on our website at the link below. We are offering 28 courses designed with K-12 math teachers in mind, in more than 11 locations.

Please note that although the courses listed on the NMSSI website are correct, the courses in MyRED will not be completely up-to-date until registration begins on March 17.

In addition to many courses offered in Lincoln, this summer we are partnering with 10 Educational Service Units and local school districts to offer courses for mathematics teachers in these Nebraska locations: Ainsworth, Columbus, Beatrice, Fremont, Grand Island, Hastings, Holdrege, Kearney, North Platte and Omaha. University faculty and master teachers drawn from K-12 teacher ranks will serve as course instructors. In addition we are offering special programs for teachers in ESU 13 and in ESU 3; contact ESU staff developers Kathy Vandamme (ESU 13) and Debbie Schraeder (ESU 3), or nebraskamath@unl.edu with questions on how to apply for these special opportunities.

For all on-site NMSSI courses, current Nebraska teachers automatically qualify for a tuition fellowship from UNL, which amounts to 20 percent of in-state, graduate tuition. Additionally, Nebraska K-12 teachers can apply for supplemental NMSSI Fellowships to further defray tuition costs for NMSSI courses. See our website for details.

In order to broaden our ability to serve teachers from across the state, we will also offer two classes online in Summer 2014. Unfortunately, our agreement with the university does not permit us to extend the 20 percent tuition reduction to online courses. However, K-12 Nebraska teachers who take one of these online courses may apply for a supplemental NMSSI Fellowship to help defray tuition costs for an online course.

Check out the NMSSI website at http://scimath.unl.edu/nmssi for updates on course offerings, information about registration, and information about fellowship applications.
