Two NCTM webinars this September

With a new school year approaching, NCTM has two new informative webinar sessions that will offer something for everyone. Join your peers to discuss a wide range of topics.

Webinar Series: Author Talks
Reimaging the Mathematics Classroom
September 13 | 7:00 p.m. ET

Reimagining the Mathematics Classroom synthesizes research on the essential elements of mathematics learning environments that invite and empower all students to see themselves as mathematical thinkers and sense makers. During this webinar, the authors will provide an overview of each element: the classroom's physical space, mathematical discourse, mathematical tasks, assessments that inform learning, and engagement with families and communities. The authors will also describe some of the resources available for classroom teachers, teacher educators, instructional coaches, and administrators that can be explored individually or as part of a study group.

Webinar Series: President's Messages
Positioning NCTM for the Second Century
September 27 | 7:00 p.m. ET

The Board recently engaged in strategic re-visioning of NCTM, asking one critical question: If we were designing NCTM from the ground up today to serve mathematics teachers in the twenty-first century, what would it look like? To position NCTM for a second century of service to teachers of mathematics, the Board determined that NCTM's work moving forward will be guided by a more concise mission statement and a focused strategic framework. During this webinar Matt will discuss the current state of NCTM and the plan moving forward.
