This afternoon, Feb 18th, Dr. Julia McQuillan, the Willa Cather Professor of Sociology at UNL, will provide an overview of the Worlds of Connections project.
Title:
Worlds of Connections: Can Network Science for Health attract new youth to health careers?
Abstract:
Worlds of Connections is a Science Education Partnership Award funded by the National Institutes of Health. Our interdisciplinary team includes sociologists, mathematicians, designers, educators, and others who seek to spread knowledge and excitement about network science. Network science is a tool used to discover how things are connected and interact; it can reveal hidden patterns and help solve many problems. The Worlds of Connections focal goals are 1) to increase youth interest in health-related network science careers and 2) to create engaging materials, such as activities, games, and emerging media, to help people learn about how network science tools can solve problems.
Date/Time: Thursday, Feb 18th from 2-3pm
