UNL CAS Inclusive and Equitable Teaching Workshops

Registration is open for UNL College of Arts and Sciences instructors to attend Inclusive and Equitable Teaching Workshops led by Wendy Smith, Amy Ort, and Sydney Brown in November and December. The purpose of these workshops is to engage in hands-on course development centered around equity and inclusivity, leading to better student outcomes.

Nov. 3 - Active Learning Strategies
Participants try out a variety of active learning strategies and include discussion of considerations for equity and inclusion when implementing these strategies. Plan the implementation of a new active learning strategy for a course you are teaching this semester.

Dec. 1 - Course and Section Coordination with Equity in Mind
Participants will have discussions around how course coordination can lead to more equitable student outcomes, which course elements could or should be coordinated, and how course coordinators can function as "choice architects."

Dec. 8 - Inclusive Teaching Mindsets and Practices
This session touches on several inclusive teaching practices, including course policies, classroom norms, and noticing and responding to microaggressions. Bring a syllabus for a course you will be teaching next semester.
