Read all assigned reading before you go to class. Highlight text when reading; you should find at least 3 important points per page. After reading, outline.
Go to all classes and take notes in a dedicated notebook you use for the course.
After class, integrate notes from class with outline from the readings.
If have supplemental material, integrate this material with outline in #3.
When studying for a test, develop questions that correspond with the material. When answering, review text/class outline.
In outline, begin relating information* you have:
A. How are concepts alike?
B. How are concepts different?
C. Are there generalizations you can make about two related concepts?
*This task will help you understand the material (not just memorize) so you can problem solve questions you may be asked that you did not actually study.
