The Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools is seeking college-age students to be Experts-in-Residence this summer for their SPARK program, which helps K-5 students “play their way through the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and match) fields.
Spark is a maker program taking place at Adams Elementary School throughout the summer (May 28-Aug. 3).
Each week, students work in hands-on projects that they will display to friends and family at the end of the week. Spark is seeking outside experts to help the students realize their goals. These Experts-in-Residence (EIRs) help the children on a variety of projects, like building a treadmill for an octopus. EIRs should have a variety of STEAM skills, and most importantly the ability to say, "I don't know, but let's find out."
If that sounds like you, Spark has a variety of opportunities that will fit most schedules. Spark is able to pay an hourly honorarium for your services. Bonus points if you are a regular member of the Nebraska Innovation Studios.
