14 students awarded the Milton E. Mohr Fellowship

Lisbeth Vallecilla Yepez is honored with a Milton E. Mohr Fellowship by Dan Linzell, associate dean for graduate and international programs.

The Milton E. Mohr Scholarship and Fellowships award program was established in 1989 for students in the College of Engineering and Biotechnology degree programs. The scholarships and fellowships are made possible through an endowment to the University Foundation.

Over 30 engineering graduate students applied for the fellowship and only 14 students were chosen, two from each department. To be eligible, students must have a graduation date no sooner than May 2020, a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, be a full-time graduate student or be certified as full-time, and have a primary major in the College of Engineering.

The recipients, who will each receive a $1,000 fellowship for the 2019-2020 academic year, are:

* Jianming Zhao – Mechanical and Materials Engineering

* Amir Monemian Esfahani – Mechanical and Materials Engineering

* Brandi Brown – Biological Systems Engineering

* Lisbeth Vallecilla Yepez – Biological Systems Engineering

* Subharthi Banerji – Electrical and Computer Engineering

* Matthew Hilfiker – Electrical and Computer Engineering

* Shayan Kaviani – Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering

* Levi Kramer – Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering

* Samuel Underwood – the Durham School of Architectural Engineering

* Amir Ebrahimifakhar – the Durham School of Architectural Engineering

* Shahab Karimifard – Civil Engineering
