The House on Mango Street follows Esperanza Cordero as she comes of age in a Chicago neighborhood, sharing powerful vignettes that explore culture, identity, family, and resilience. This intimate staged reading will be directed by Christina Kirk, Professor in the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film, and features a full Latinx cast.
This event is part of The House on Mango Project, a yearlong community collaboration between the Lied Center, Linked2Literacy, the Sheldon Museum of Art, Lincoln City Libraries, and local cultural organizations. The initiative celebrates the diversity of Lincoln and the experiences of New Americans through literature, art, and dialogue.
