In the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, we encourage our students to pursue their passions and cultivate their talents to make their mark on the world. To nurture the next generation of changemakers, we have created the CASNR Change Maker Scholarship Competition. This is an opportunity for returning CASNR students to receive a $5000 scholarship for a quick-pitch two-minute video showcasing their idea to create positive change in the world.

With 26 degree programs, CASNR offers a diverse learning community where students can tailor their pathway to fit their passions and future career goals. From animal health to food science, agribusiness to environmental science, PGA Golf Management to statistics and data analytics, biochemistry to agronomy or anything in between, the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources offers the programs and flexibility to support you through your academic journey to a rewarding career.

The Change Maker scholarship competition opens on December 1, 2024 and applications will be accepted through February 1, 2025. Change Maker winners not only receive the $5000 scholarship for the 2025-2026 academic year, but they are also connected with a mentor to receive guidance, support, and connections to achieve their goals and bring their ideas to life. Change Maker ideas come in all shapes and sizes, we want to hear your amazing ideas and help you reach your goals.

The video submission should address one or more of the grand challenges: feeding the world; water for the future; new energy; climate and the future; biodiversity, sustainability and environmental; health; engaging diverse communities; and developing tomorrow’s leaders. The judging panel will also consider creativity in the content selection and presentation, effectiveness in highlighting how your idea will lead to a more sustainable, healthy, secure and/or joyous world, and the overall quality of the presentation in their scoring considerations. Two winners are selected from the returning student pool and must be enrolled in a CASNR degree program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to receive the award. Visit the CASNR Change Maker website for more information and submission rules.

Our CASNR Change Makers have gone on to create small businesses, take part in cutting-edge research, impact their communities in meaningful ways, and make connections that will last. Choosing CASNR empowers you with the knowledge and skills to tackle the challenges of the future. What difference do you want to make in the world?
